1. Who can participate in the photo contest?

Participation is open only to SanMa (San Diego Malayalees) members. Submissions from non-members will not be considered.

2. Can I submit multiple entries?

Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry.

3. What are the different categories for competition?

Submissions are categorized by age: kids (7-12), teens (13-17), and adults (18+). Winners will be announced for each category.

4. What does the theme mean?

With the theme "History of San Diego", we expect participants to explore and capture the rich and diverse historical heritage of this beautiful city. Photographers can delve into San Diego's past, capturing moments, landmarks, and stories that reflect its evolution and the cultural tapestry that defines it. From historic architecture to iconic events, this theme encourages the celebration of San Diego's unique history through the art of photography, providing a window into its captivating journey over the years.

5. What are the submission requirements?

Your entry should include your name, the photograph's title, and a brief description (2-3 lines) explaining how the photograph relates to the theme. You can submit your entry via email to SanMa Arts Committee at arts@sandiegomalayalees.org. Light photo modifications are allowed. Both color and monochrome images are accepted. Image should be either in in JPEG or PNG formats.

6. How will I know if my entry has been received and accepted for the contest?

We'll send an acknowledgement mail as a reply to your submission within 24 hours. Entries that meet the criteria will be displayed on the "San Diego Malayalees (SanMa) Connect" Facebook page wall.

7. How will the winners be determined?

Winners will be selected by a panel of experienced and distinguished photographers, who may consist of multiple judges. They will assess entries based on criteria such as creativity, originality, and image quality.

8. How will the winners be rewarded?

Winner photographer will be announced as SanMa’s Shutterbug 2023 and Shutterfly gift cards will be awarded to the winners. Winning photos will also be showcased in our upcoming SanMa magazine.

9. When is the deadline for submissions?

The deadline for entries is November 15th, 2023 before 11:59 pm.

10. Can I submit a photo that includes people or do they have to be solely focused on landscapes or objects?

Photos can include people or landscapes as long as it can be related or justified to the theme. 

11. How will I be notified if I win?

The winners will be announced on San Diego Malayalees (SanMa) Connect facebook page as well as on SanMa whatsapp group.
